![]() ![]() Nagito's words in Chapter 0 of SDR2 sort of suggested that he was more of being the one to oppose Junko compared to the rest of his classmates. There were some interesting ideas that I found watching Despair Arc, but they were't fully utilized such as Nagito's lost absence, which could have been used as sort of a first step into how the class of 77-B's first steps into Despair happened. Now I wish the anime delved into more detail about these events instead of pushing them off to the side and then realizing in it's run time: "Oh right, we got to put this event in." There were also parts of some characters that felt that they didn't follow their personality (Hajime is a huge contender for this). Sadly, it doesn't do much to expand upon the lore, as it's first few episodes could be classified as mostly filler with a few recaps of the games happening such as Hajime's involvement with the Kamakura Project or Twilight Syndrome Murder Case. This arc mostly goes over the time before The Tragedy happened, and is the more memorable of the two main arcs mostly because when you go into it after playing the games, you already know what it is. Since this anime is divided into three parts (Despair, Future/Hope, and OVA, even if it's not available for legal streaming.), I'll try my best to talk about each part in it's own section.įirst off is the Despair Arc. This anime doesn't have any surprising twists like the games (If you count Future Arc as something spoiler sensitive, but eh.), so I'll be spoiling most points of the anime and my thoughts about it. Look up his thoughts, and that gives you a general idea of how this anime had missed potential. If you guys already heard his thoughts about this anime, then I don't need to explain myself. During the development of this anime, he was more focused on V3: Killing Harmony. The creator of Danganronpa, Kazutaka Kodaka, had little involvement with this anime, as he only helped create the designs and some of the basic ideas. It's not really stellar like the games, but it could have been done better, if given to someone else probably. Yes I did enjoy watching this anime, to a degree. There are points where it feels like that it would shine, but it takes it to the wrong direction. Yes this review is long, so if you don't feel to read it, I totally understand. If you wish to see it, go watch it if you want and come back here to read my in-depth thoughts about this series. WARNING: This review will be spoiling the entirety of the Anime. ![]()
